Ahead of the yuletide, festivities across the country, the Zone D headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, (NSCDC), has reiterated its prepadness to ensure crime free Christmas.
The Zonal Commandant in-charge of Niger and Kwara state Commands ACG Shehu Magaji Tunga gave the assurance while addressing men and officers of the Zone.
He said the zonal commands of the Corps will not take any chance in ensuring the safety and the protection of lives and critical National installations and assets which is the core mandate of the NSCDC.
According to the Zonal Commandant of the Corps,the Zone D headquarters supervises the operations of Niger and Kwara state Commands," with verse land mass and wide spread critical national assets and infrastructure including Jebba, Kainji Zungeru and Shiroro Hydro-electric Dams, rail lines, Telecommunication facilities and oil and gas assets infrastructure"
He charged men and officers of the zone to always be watchful of the activities of unscrupulous elements in the society saying the should not allow to be taken unawares by the criminaly minded elements in the society.
" I don't want us to be taken unawares by these criminaly minded elements in our midsts, I don't want to leave things to chance.
" We all know how critical our mandate is to the stability of the national security and economy,this briefing is among other things aimed at charging all of you to explore proactive mechanism within your capabilities and deploy responsive approachs to tackling security Challenges in the society in keeping with the pregmatic principles of the leadership of Commandant general of the corps" ACG Magaji told his men.
He reietrated further, that the Zonal commands under his leadership is prepared to reposition the operations of the zones to adequately support the Niger and Kwara state Commands to fight all forms of Vandalism and protect critical National installations and assets during and after the yuletide periods.
Meanwhile,the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) says it has deployed a total of 1700 operatives to ensure Hitch Free yuletide festivities.
This was disclosed through a press statement made available to Journalists in Minna Monday by the Command Public Relation Officer Abubakar Mohammed Rabiu Muti DSC.
He explained that the deployment is geared towards providing adequate security coverage before,during and after the celebrations.
According to the Command spoke man,the state Commandant of the NSCDC Mr Abdullahi Adamu Kambra emphasized that the deployment is also intend to protect critical national assets and Infrastructure in the state.
He noted that the command is commited to the maintenance of law and order, protect lives and properties as well as providing security at every meeting points which necessitated the fdeployment of the operatives of the corps.
" The personnel will also conduct ficers stop-and-search operations at all exit points in Minna metropolis to ensure Hitch Free celebration" he said.
While charging men and of the Command to exhibit a high level of civility and professionalism in their conducts, the Commandant requested a collaboration with other security agencies in the state ensure smooth and successful festivities in the state.
