Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to visit Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, on Friday, January 3, 2025, for a one-day working visit.
The announcement was made by Governor Abdullahi Sule during the signing of the 2025 appropriation bill at the Government House on Monday.
The Vice President's visit will feature four key engagements.
He will preside over the graduation of over 1,000 trained technicians from the Wing Commander Ibrahim Abdullahi Vocational and Technical Institute, a program that includes participants from across the country.
Additionally, Vice President Shettima will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nasarawa Investment Development Agency (NASIDA) head office and the Multi Outdoor Court, a project financed by the World Bank with a $4 million facility.
The Vice President will also oversee the distribution of tractors and rice seedlings to local government chairmen to promote large-scale rice farming across the state.
Furthermore, he will distribute relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by floods, as part of the federal government's N3 billion support initiative for flood victims.
Speaking on the distribution, Governor Sule emphasized the importance of sustaining rice cultivation in the state and called on local government leaders to take full advantage of the initiative. "This effort ensures that rice cultivation in Jangwa and other areas continues for multiple seasons, with support provided to every local government," he said.
Vice President Shettima is also expected to pay homage to the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage (rtd), during his visit.
Governor Sule urged the people of Nasarawa State to provide their full support to ensure the success of the Vice President's visit.
