The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to reducing poverty and enhancing social safety nets through strategic partnerships.
In a high-level meeting held today at the World Bank office in Abuja, the Minister engaged with the Country Director, Ndiamé Diop, and his team to discuss collaboration on several critical initiatives. Key among them were the expansion and improvement of the National Social Registry, enhancement of the School Feeding Program, introduction of new support measures for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and the rollout of conditional cash transfer schemes.
The Minister emphasized the importance of adopting data-driven approaches to ensure transparency and efficiency in implementing these programs. He highlighted the pivotal role of the World Bank’s technical expertise and resources in fostering inclusive development and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.
“These efforts align seamlessly with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritizes the reduction of poverty and the creation of sustainable opportunities for all Nigerians,” Professor Goshwe stated.
The meeting underscored a shared vision between the Nigerian government and the World Bank to drive impactful social interventions and uplift marginalized communities across the country.
