The Nasarawa State Government has approved ₦70,500 as the new minimum wage for its workforce.
This development was disclosed by a member of the Adhoc Committee on Minimum Wage during a meeting at the Government House, Lafia.
The decision comes just hours before the December 1 deadline issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which mandated state governments to implement the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act or face an indefinite strike.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, in a recent statement, assured workers that the new minimum wage would be implemented promptly once the payment framework was finalized.
This approval reflects the state government’s proactive response to labor demands and its commitment to improving workers’ welfare.
