In a statement issued by the Directorate of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, the institution announced the commencement of production and sales of its locally produced IMAP Consult Parboiled Rice.
The high-quality, stone-free, and affordable rice is targeted at addressing the rising cost of living and improving the welfare of staff, students, and the general public amidst global food inflation.
Speaking during the official launch, the Acting Rector, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, highlighted that the initiative aligns with IMAP's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, boosting local production, and promoting sustainable consumption.
He noted that the Polytechnic prioritizes innovation and productivity in solving societal challenges.
To ease the financial burden on staff, Dr. Maifata disclosed that payments for the rice can be made in installments.
He also invited the public to purchase the rice, assuring them of its superior quality.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Dr. Ilah Obadiah, lauded the Rector's foresight and dedication to addressing the needs of the Polytechnic community.
He urged staff and students to maximize the opportunity, describing the initiative as a proactive response to current economic challenges.
The statement further revealed that the IMAP Consult Parboiled Rice is available in 10kg, 25kg, and 50kg packages at the IMAP Consult Office.
This development underscores IMAP's role as a leader in innovation, productivity, and community welfare enhancement.
