As preparations for the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season gain momentum, the Lagos State Football Association (Lagos FA) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for teams representing the state across various national football leagues.

In a statement, the Chairman of Lagos FA, Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, emphasized the importance of outstanding performances by Lagos-based teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), NNL, and the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO).

He highlighted that such achievements would contribute to the growth and development of football in the state.

“We have full confidence in the capabilities of Lagos teams to make us proud. To achieve this, we are committed to providing them with the necessary technical support whenever needed,” Liameed stated.

Describing Lagos State as both the “Centre of Excellence” and the “Home of Football,” Liameed commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for creating a peaceful and conducive environment for sports. He reiterated the association’s goal to maintain Lagos State’s prestigious position in Nigerian football.

“We are optimistic that two additional Lagos-based teams will earn promotion to join Ikorodu City FC in the NPFL next season,” Liameed added with confidence.

This season, six Lagos State teams—Smart City, Madiba FC, 1472 FC, Inter Lagos FC, First Bank FC, and Sporting Lagos FC—are competing in the NNL, showcasing the depth of talent and passion for football in the state.

The Lagos FA's commitment underscores its mission to nurture football excellence and ensure Lagos remains a dominant force in Nigerian football.
