The Kano State Government has unveiled its plan to commence revenue collection from the state’s Ministry of Health.

This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, after defending the ministry's 2025 budget proposal at the Kano State House of Assembly.

Dr. Yusuf disclosed that the ministry intends to generate revenue from the state-owned hospitals, a measure expected to take effect from the coming year.

He highlighted the ministry’s realization of untapped opportunities within the healthcare sector that could contribute to government revenue.

He further explained that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to explore alternative revenue sources amid the prevailing economic challenges.

The move comes as citizens express concerns over the rising cost of living, attributed in part to certain government policies.
