The Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC LCC) in Agyaragu, Lafia Local Government Area, was filled with joy and unity as hundreds of worshippers gathered to celebrate Christmas. The church was beautifully decorated, and vibrant songs of praise echoed through the air, sung by various church choirs.
Very Reverend Monday Enwongulu, the head of the church, delivered a powerful message encouraging Christians to embrace love and unity, transcending religious, tribal, and political boundaries. Drawing from the Book of Isaiah (Chapter 9, Verses 1–12), he preached on the theme, "Fulfillment of the Prophecy of the New Testament World." He urged worshippers to extend friendship to people of other faiths, emphasizing that the second coming of Jesus Christ represents the salvation of mankind from sin.
In an unprecedented and heartwarming display of interfaith solidarity, a group of Shiite Muslims attended the Christmas service, exemplifying the spirit of love and peace. Malam Yahaya Muhammad Yahaya, speaking on behalf of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shiites) in Agyaragu, Malam Danladi Haliru, expressed the group's commitment to fostering love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. Yahaya encouraged fellow Muslims to see Christians as brothers and refrain from discrimination, noting that such actions contribute to national peace and development.
As a gesture of goodwill, the Shiite group presented gifts to the church, symbolizing their commitment to promoting harmony among Nigerians, regardless of faith. Reverend Bitrus Amos, the second Reverend of the church, expressed gratitude for the visit, emphasizing that it was a testament to love, unity, and the shared values of brotherhood and humility, as outlined in the Bible. He reassured the delegation that the church's commitment to interfaith unity would continue for the peace and progress of both the state and the nation.
This extraordinary event highlighted the potential for collaboration and mutual respect between different religious communities, promoting a peaceful and unified society.
