Ahoada, Rivers State – In a landmark event, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara commissioned the Government Girls Secondary School, Ahoada.
The event marked the culmination of a project that underscores his administration’s commitment to education as a priority for sustainable development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deliver a project devoid of political vendettas, emphasizing his administration’s dedication to impactful governance. “This project was initiated before May 29 and remained unfunded. Despite not knowing the contractors personally, we prioritized education and assured them of funding without altering agreements. This reflects the transparent and people-focused leadership guiding this state,” he said.
The governor also highlighted the recent commissioning of the 11.8-kilometer Okehi-Umuola-Eberi link road and announced upcoming projects in Omuma, reiterating his commitment to tangible developmental strides.
Governor Fubara condemned unwarranted criticisms on social media, urging individuals to focus on self-improvement and meaningful contributions. He emphasized that his administration celebrates impactful projects that add value to citizens' lives rather than mere token gestures.
The newly commissioned school is strategically designed to enhance girl-child education, which the governor described as pivotal for the nation’s future. “Our approach is not just to do things but to do what is right. The quality of education for girls who will become future mothers and wives directly impacts our nation’s greatness,” he remarked.
Addressing political challenges, Governor Fubara expressed solidarity with traditional leaders and community members who faced intimidation for supporting his government. He assured them of his unwavering commitment to justice and recognition of their contributions.
He further disclosed plans to extend the newly inaugurated road and address other infrastructural challenges, emphasizing the need for projects that ensure smooth operations within the area. While announcing the cancellation of an internal road project due to the contractor’s failure, he vowed to re-award it for proper execution.
The governor thanked the people of Ekpeye for their steadfast support and urged them to remain peaceful during the festive season. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to its “RiversFirst” mantra.
Accepting the chieftaincy title of "Eagle," Governor Fubara pledged to continue soaring above challenges and delivering results that honor the trust of the Rivers people.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and members of the community, who celebrated the milestone achievement for education and development in Ahoada.
