A former member of the House of Representatives representing Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, has been abducted by unidentified gunmen while en route to Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The abduction occurred on Monday along the Nunku-Gwantu axis, which lies between Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to eyewitness accounts, the kidnappers fired sporadically during the attack, resulting in the tragic death of Kigbu’s police orderly.
The officer reportedly engaged in a gun battle with the assailants in an attempt to fend them off before being fatally shot.
As of the time of filing this report, the police authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
