The Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Reverend Habila Daboh had decried the current high rate of inflation rocking the Country which subjected the common man to serious hardship, hunger, Insecurity and other Social Vices.
He made the pronouncement in a statement issued to Blueprint in Zaria shortly after the Christmas mass on Wednesday.
The Bishop said that the country was facing immense challenges such political instability, economic hardship, insecurity and moral confusion.
The statement read in part "The over the years Nigerians have endure policies that have not yielded the prosperity and stability, our political gladiators have always preached to us.
The avoidable gap between the Rich and the Poor keeps widening daily with many family struggling to afford the basic necessity of life. We see the continuous painful effect of inflation, persistent high rate of unemployment and incessant weakened currency.
"As a nation richly blessed with human and natural resources, we must ask our selves at what did we get it wrong.
"The prophet Isaiah warns against injustice and exploitation, saying woe to those who make unjust laws to those issue oppressive decrees to deprived the poor their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people " (Isaiah 10:1-2).
This passage is set against the backdrop of the 18th century BCE when the kingdom of Judah was under social, political and spiritual strain.
The Prophet Isaiah address a society marked by widespread injustice, corruption and oppression, especially targeting the most vulnerable members of Society, the poor, widows and orphans.
The Clergy charged leaders and Lawmakers who enact unjust decrees and exploit legal system to serve their interest at the expense of the marginalized.
The denunciation particularly aimed at those in position of authority who twist justice, deprive the poor their and prey upon the defenceless to reflect God's steadfast concern for justice and the well-being of the oppressed of the oppressed.
