In a groundbreaking development, Comrade Grace Ike has been elected as the first female Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council. She achieved this historic feat by securing 445 affirmative votes in a keenly observed election, setting a new precedent for women in media leadership within the Federal Capital Territory.
Similarly, Comrade Jide Oyekunle emerged as the Secretary of the NUJ FCT Council with an overwhelming mandate. Running unopposed, he garnered 447 affirmative votes during the election held on Wednesday at the Council's Secretariat.
His unanimous victory highlights the trust and confidence placed in him by members of the union.
Both leaders are expected to steer the council toward greater achievements, fostering unity and professionalism among journalists in the FCT.
