Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family have fled to Moscow following the capture of Damascus by Syrian rebel forces. Russian state media outlet TASS, citing a Kremlin source, confirmed that Assad has been granted asylum in Russia.
"Assad and his family have arrived in Moscow. Russia, for humanitarian reasons, has granted them asylum," the Kremlin source disclosed.
This development marks a significant turning point in Syria’s prolonged conflict, as the rebel forces consolidate control over the capital.
