The Speaker of Lafia Local Government Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Shuaibu Madaki, presided over the first sitting of the Council since his inauguration today, Friday, 8th November 2024, at the legislative chamber in Lafia.
In his address, the Speaker congratulated the Honourable Councilors on their victory in the recent local government elections held on 2nd November 2024. He urged the Councilors to demonstrate hard work, commitment, and dedication in fulfilling their legislative responsibilities.
Speaker Madaki emphasized the importance of synergy between the legislative and executive arms of government to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to their constituents.
During the session, the Speaker unveiled the names of the newly appointed Principal Officers as follows:
Deputy Speaker: Hon. Shuaibu Abba Zanwa, Councilor representing Zanwa electoral ward
Majority Leader: Hon. Umar Ahmad Gambo, Councilor representing Akurba electoral ward
Chief Whip: Hon. Maimuna Abdullahi Angulu, Councilor representing Agyaragu Tofa electoral ward
Deputy Majority Leader: Hon. Yakubu Aliyu, Councilor representing Ciroma electoral ward
Deputy Chief Whip: Hon. Musa Mohammed, Councilor representing Ashige electoral ward
The sitting concluded with a motion for adjournment moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Umar Ahmad Gambo, and seconded by Hon. Isa Dadda'u, Councilor representing Makama electoral ward.
