In a strong rebuttal to recent social media rumors, the Rivers State Government has clarified that reports alleging Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the shutdown of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and all oil companies in the state are entirely unfounded.
The government labeled these claims as fabricated propaganda stemming from unreliable sources. Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, emphasized that Governor Fubara remains committed to the rule of law and responsible governance, rejecting any unconventional measures to address issues.
Rivers State officials urge citizens and well-meaning Nigerians to disregard these misleading reports, confirming that there has been no intention or directive to disrupt the economy.
