Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has called on youths to take lead in advocating for national transformation and development
The Governor made this call during a colloquium organised in his honour, titled “Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed @66,” held on Saturday.
The event was organized by a political group known as BAM and marked the inaugural edition of the colloquium, attracting top government officials, including the Governor, his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Auwal Jatau; Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, former HOS Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Gumba Kuyanbanan Bauchi, Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, Aliyu Yakubu Lame and Senator Bala Adamu Kariya, among others.
The theme of the Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad colloquium, celebrating the architect of Modern Bauchi at 66, was “The Role of Innovative Governance and Sustainable Practices: A Case Study of ‘My Bauchi Project.'”
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad expressed his gratitude to the group for the honour, emphasising that his administration will continue to make significant strides in critical sectors of the economy.
He particularly highlighted the focus on education, health, agriculture, and the development of youth and women, aiming to enhance the quality of life for the people of Bauchi State.
Sen. Bala has asserted that Bauchi State remains one of the most peaceful states in the country and emphasised the need to sustain the gains achieved so far for sustainable growth and development.
The governor highlighted the unwavering support he has received from the people of the state since his initial election in 2019, which led to his re-election in the 2023 general elections.
He expressed his commitment to continue embarking on developmental projects and programmes for the benefit of the people, viewing it as a way of giving back for their loyalty and support.
Muhammad Atiku Isah, the convener of the Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad Colloquium, noted that at 66, Bala Muhammad has made significant contributions to the growth and development of Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole, citing his previous roles as a Senator, FCT Minister, and now as a two-term Governor.
He also indicated that the youth group would continue to galvanise support for the governor’s presidential ambitions in 2027, should he choose to run, enabling him to replicate the developmental strides witnessed in Bauchi State for the benefit of Nigeria.
The ceremony included presentations from the Chairman, Prof. Murtala Sagagi, represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Aminu Hassan Gamawa, with the keynote address delivered by Prof. Usman Bugaje, represented by Aminu Hammayo. Additionally, there were panel discussions presided over by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman.
