Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill totaling N382.57 billion to the State House of Assembly, emphasizing education, infrastructure, and economic growth as priorities.
The budget, tagged the “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability,” was submitted on Friday, with a breakdown of 41.82% (N159.97 billion) for recurrent expenditure and 58.18% (N222.60 billion) for capital expenditure.
Highlighting sectoral allocations, the Governor detailed:
Education, Science & ICT: N78.16 billion
Infrastructure: N71.70 billion
Health: N36.20 billion
Agriculture & Water Resources: N36.07 billion
Environment: N27.02 billion
Youth & Sports Development: N9.77 billion
Humanitarian and Women Empowerment: N6.40 billion
Governor Sule reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing the new national minimum wage once the Minimum Wage Committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe, submits its recommendations. He assured that provisions for this adjustment have been made in the 2025 budget.
The Governor lauded the legislature’s partnership, stating,
"The synergy between the Executive and Legislative arms has been instrumental in achieving our shared vision for Nasarawa State."
He also outlined his administration's achievements in education, health, infrastructure, and security while pledging full implementation of the budget to sustain progress in these areas.
In his response, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, assured the Assembly’s swift consideration and passage of the budget.
"The 7th Assembly remains committed to supporting policies and programs that will deliver democratic dividends to the people of Nasarawa State," he said.
The Speaker commended Governor Sule’s efforts in improving the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and enhancing security, making Nasarawa one of the most peaceful states in the country. He also acknowledged the Governor’s strides in solid minerals exploration and infrastructural development, including the remodeling of the Assembly complex.
Background:
The 2025 budget follows the approval of a N356.5 billion revised budget for 2024 after supplementary allocations in November 2024. This marks another milestone in Nasarawa State’s economic and developmental journey under Governor Sule's administration.
Speaker Jatau reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to fostering peace and good governance, pledging legislative interventions to support the Governor’s efforts.
