The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Saleh Barde Keana, has been recognized with an Award of Excellence by Accountant World Communication Technology for his outstanding contributions to the administration and welfare of people living with disabilities (PLDs) in Nigeria.
The award was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of Accountant World Communication Technology, Abubakar Akika Ibrahim, during a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Lafia. Ibrahim, accompanied by senior management staff, praised Keana’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the needs of PLDs in the state.
Highlighting the purpose of the visit, Ibrahim revealed plans to collaborate with the Commission on key initiatives, including leadership development, staff training, and enhanced human capital development for PLDs. Among the proposed programs were a six-month ICT induction training for 1,300 individuals with disabilities across Nasarawa’s 13 local government areas and the Nasarawa State 2025 National Summit on Sustainable Growth and Development.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Keana expressed gratitude to the organization for the recognition, stating that the award would inspire him to further champion the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
He also commended the proposed partnership, emphasizing its potential to transform the lives of PLDs in Nasarawa State and beyond.
The visit and award ceremony underscore the growing acknowledgment of innovative leadership in advancing the rights of marginalized groups in Nigeria.
