Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, declared the beginning of a transformative era in the state with the swearing-in of 23 newly elected Local Government Chairmen following the recent council elections. Addressing the chairmen during the ceremony at the Executive Chambers in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara emphasized that the state is entering a period where democracy will thrive, and the people will witness the delivery of promised democratic dividends.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to the people of Rivers for their support in safeguarding the Local Government system, which had faced challenges from disruptive political elements. He noted that efforts to destabilize the election process, including an attempt to invade the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) headquarters, were thwarted due to the resilience of the state.

Governor Fubara urged the newly sworn-in chairmen to adopt servant leadership and stay connected to their communities. He warned against arrogance and misuse of power, reminding them that their role is to serve the people and promote development across the 23 local government areas.

Highlighting the importance of maintaining peace, the Governor advised the chairmen to avoid confrontation, even if provoked by political opponents. He assured that the state government would continue to prioritize peace and stability.

Governor Fubara also reiterated his administration’s commitment to leading Rivers State toward greater development, encouraging the chairmen to embrace inclusivity and transparency in their leadership.

In conclusion, the Governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support and reaffirmed his loyalty to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as he looks forward to driving Rivers State into a new phase of progress.
