In a recent event, Taimako Anyabuga, a legislative aide to Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, called on the 450 beneficiaries of a cash grant program to refrain from involving middlemen during the distribution of funds. The program allocates N80,000 to 250 widows and N50,000 to 200 individuals living with disabilities, aimed at alleviating economic hardships.
Speaking to the assembled beneficiaries and supporters, Anyabuga emphasized the importance of direct access to the grants, warning against opportunistic individuals seeking to exploit the situation.
He urged those engaging in such practices to reconsider their actions, highlighting Senator Onawo's commitment to supporting the vulnerable.
Former Chairman of the People's Democratic Party in Doma Local Government Council, Alhaji Mallam Yahaya, also encouraged beneficiaries to stay determined during these challenging times.
Senator Onawo expressed gratitude for the support he has received from local communities, reaffirming that the cash grant distribution is an ongoing initiative.
He indicated that youth will be the next focus of his empowerment efforts, describing the current grants as just the "tip of the iceberg."
Beneficiaries, including Monday Haruna from Jangaru community, expressed their appreciation for the senator's efforts to provide assistance to widows and persons living with disabilities.
