Tensions continue to rise in Rivers State following the revocation of the naming of an administrative block after former Governor Nyesom Wike.

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo, made the decision to rename the structure, formerly called "Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Admin Block," to "Dr. Obi Wali House.

" Ihunwo, a close ally of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, expressed his dissatisfaction with Wike, accusing him of stoking unrest in the area.

During a heated address, Ihunwo dared anyone to challenge his decision and warned Wike's supporters against inciting further violence.

“They’ve burned down other LGAs, but whoever tries it in Obio/Akpor, his house will be burned," Ihunwo stated, referencing recent attacks on council secretariats in the state.

The move has intensified the political climate in Rivers, with Governor Fubara also urging Wike to relinquish his hold on state politics for the sake of peace.

In a recent interview, Fubara emphasized the need for calm, stating, "You don't need to win every fight; sometimes you have to let go for the good of Rivers people.
