Police operatives attached to Mararaba 'A' Division have arrested three armed robbery suspects following a successful operation based on credible intelligence.
The suspects, identified as Salim Hussaini (22), Abdulkadir Musa (20), and Dimas Danja (24), all from Yelwa Road, Aso Pada, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State, were apprehended with a locally fabricated rifle, a knife, and criminal charms.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of a gang that has been terrorizing Mararaba and its surrounding areas.
The arrest followed a failed robbery attempt on October 2, 2024, at around 10:40 p.m. The suspects had targeted a residence on Yelwa Village Road but were forced to flee after encountering resistance. The police were contacted, leading to an investigation that resulted in the suspects' capture.
In a related development, on October 5, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., police detectives attached to New Karu Area Command, acting on actionable intelligence, intercepted a blue Toyota Camry with registration number RBC 980 DA, suspected to have been stolen.
The vehicle was in the possession of Mohammed Aliyu Abubakar of Mabushi, Abuja, and three accomplices, who were allegedly looking for a buyer. Upon sighting the police, the suspects fled, but Abubakar was apprehended and the stolen vehicle was recovered.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has called on the rightful owner of the stolen vehicle to visit the New Karu Area Command with proof of ownership to claim the recovered car.
