The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), has apprehended three persons who specialize in vandalizing transformers in some communities of Minna and its environs.
The three suspected vandals were swiftly arrested by the operatives of Anti Vandal squad of the NSCDC on routine patrol along the community.
The three suspects were arrested on the spot at the scene of the crime while dismantling the already vandalized transformer.
Addressing Journalists,while parading the three suspected vandals at the Command headquarters in Minna at the weekend, the state Commandant of the Corp Mr. Adamu Abdullahi Kambara said the prompt action of the command Anti Vandal squad arrested the suspects at the scene of the crime.
The three suspected vandals according to the Commandant, Include Mohammed Mohammed,32, Suleiman Musa 32, and Umar Faruk 25 apprehended by a combined teams of the vigilante group and men of the Anti Vandal squad and brought to the Command headquarters for further investigation.
According to the Commandant, proactive action demonstrated by the operatives in the protection of the critical infrastructure and maintaining Public safety,as mandated by the NSCDC necessitated the arrest of the three vandals.
He disclosed that the Corps duties include maintaining twenty- four-hours surveillance over infrastructure sites, and projects of the Federal,State, and Local Government and apprehending individuals involved in vandalism.
The Commandant explained that the Successful operation displayed by the operatives of the command Anti Vandal squad highlights the effective collaboration between the NSCDC,other security agencies "in particular the local vigilante groups in combating crime and ensuring the security of lives and properties
He expressed gratitude to the Commandant General (CG), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi for his unwavering support to the NSCDC, stating that his leadership has been instrumental in enhancing the Corps effectiveness.
Commandant Adamu Kambara, lauded the continuous support of the Farmer governor Mohammed Umar whose collaboration has significantly contributed to the unwavering of the state Command of the Corps Operations in the state.
While assuring the member of the Public, a full scale Investigation in to the arrest of the three suspects in the Custody,and the perpetrators he posited that the suspects Will be prosecuted in court of Competent Jurisdiction after the completion of investigation.adding ," Vandalism of Critical Infrastructure is a serious offense that undermine National development"
