The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing social and economic welfare schemes introduced by President Bola Tinubu's administration, aimed at alleviating the current hardships in the country.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lafia, NOA Director-General Mallam Lanre Onilu, represented by Mallam Haruna Sule, emphasized the importance of citizens actively seeking out and participating in these initiatives.
"We understand the challenges, but it is crucial for people to access the socio-economic programmes designed to ease the hardship.
No government wants its people to suffer. It's not about sitting down to complain but about engaging with these available schemes," Onilu said.
He highlighted over 15 policies and programmes, including the student loan scheme, that are in place to support citizens and improve their standard of living.
Addressing the ongoing National Values Campaign, Onilu underscored the significance of national symbols, such as the National Anthem, in fostering unity and reinforcing commitment to nation-building.
He encouraged Nigerians to internalize these values as part of their daily lives.
"The National Anthem represents our identity and unity as a nation. Every line is a reminder of our dedication to national growth, and we must inspire all citizens to embrace these values," he added.
Dr. Priscilla Goanduoalour, the Nasarawa State Director of NOA, also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of the National Values Charter as a tool for promoting mutual respect and strengthening the relationship between citizens and their leaders.
She noted that the campaign would be rolled out across communities nationwide to educate citizens about the anthem's significance and inspire a renewed sense of national pride.
