The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Silas Agara, has expressed strong support for President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's economic initiatives, particularly the job creation strategies outlined in his recent national broadcast during Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
President Tinubu highlighted key efforts to revitalize the economy, with a central focus on launching the Renewed Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), expected to significantly address Nigeria’s unemployment crisis.
Scheduled for later this year, the LEEP initiative, designed by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, aims to generate approximately 2.5 million jobs both directly and indirectly.
This bold step is poised to offer solutions for millions of unemployed Nigerians seeking economic stability.
Silas Agara praised the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, recognizing its people-centered approach in addressing the nation's employment challenges.
Agara further announced that the NDE would roll out its own initiative this October, targeting the creation of 55,806 jobs, serving as a crucial catalyst in supporting the LEEP programme.
Agara remains optimistic about the program’s potential to transform the employment landscape, while ensuring collaboration between key stakeholders, including private sector partners and NGOs.
The NDE also plans to introduce vocational training programs to equip young Nigerians with essential industry skills, aiming to bridge the gap between education and employment.
With President Tinubu’s ambitious vision and the NDE's continued efforts, hopes are high for a future where stable employment opportunities become a reality for many Nigerians.
