Nasarawa State Calls for Unity: Leaders Gather to Promote Peace Ahead of Local Elections

In a proactive move ahead of the November 2, 2024 local government elections, the Nasarawa State Frontiers for the Advancement of Peace and Democracy (NSFAPD) convened a stakeholders meeting focused on promoting peace and unity within the state.

The meeting saw participation from a diverse array of organizations, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Women Society, National Youth Council, Jama'atul Nasarul Islam (JNI), and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). 

This collective effort underscores a community-wide commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
Governor Abdullahi Sule addressed attendees, urging citizens to foster a spirit of cooperation and harmony. He praised the NSFAPD for organizing the meeting and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for all residents.

Hon. Ayuba Usman Wandai, the state chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASEIC), emphasized the commission's dedication to ensuring free, credible, and acceptable elections.

Comrade Faruk Tanko Tunga, representing the NGO, highlighted the importance of engaging youth in peace initiatives, noting that they often bear the brunt of conflicts.
Security personnel also issued warnings against any attempts to disrupt the electoral process, underscoring the need for vigilance during this critical period.

Program Manager Sabo Abdullahi thanked participants for their involvement and urged them to spread the peace message within their communities, reinforcing the importance of unity as the elections approach.
