According to Taimako Sunday Anyuabaga, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has taken a major step towards resolving internal conflicts within the Nasarawa State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). As the PDP leader in North Central Nigeria, Governor Mutfwang convened a meeting at Plateau Lodge in Abuja yesterday, bringing together key stakeholders to foster peace and unity within the party.

Governor Mutfwang urged all party members to prioritize collective interests over personal ambitions and confront shared challenges to democracy. In a bid to facilitate dialogue and reconciliation, he formed a peace committee co-chaired by Hon. Labaran Maku and Hon. Musa Elayo. The committee is designed to represent both sides of the conflict and includes Hon. Francis Orogu, Hon. Luka Zhekaba, Dr. Mike Omeri, Senator Suleiman Adokwe, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Adamu Oyanki, and Major General Nuhu Angbazo (rtd). Each faction is expected to contribute two additional representatives, forming a balanced five-member team.

Governor Mutfwang's Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Hon. Latep Dabang, will serve as an advisory member to the committee. The committee’s terms of reference include promoting inclusive dialogue, fairness, and transparency. To ensure that the reconciliation process is smooth and effective, Governor Mutfwang also called for a suspension of all congresses and legal actions pending the committee’s outcome.

This peace initiative is viewed as a crucial step towards unity within the Nasarawa PDP, with hopes that it will strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of upcoming elections.
