Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed concern over the prevailing acceptance of mediocrity in society, calling for a shift towards recognizing and rewarding excellence. Addressing members of his administration, the governor urged a collective effort to reverse the trend by promoting value re-orientation.
Governor Fubara made these remarks during the inauguration of the Governing Council of Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, and the Rivers State Bureau of Public Procurement at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The council, chaired by Professor Roseline Konya, and the board led by Barrister Lawrence Oko-Jaja, SAN, are tasked with driving significant progress in their respective mandates.

Emphasizing the importance of professionalism, the governor called on appointees to prioritize service to the state and perform their duties with diligence, noting, "We must act as though this government ends tomorrow, striving to leave behind a legacy of excellence."
Governor Fubara urged the Polytechnic Council to work diligently to uplift the academic standards of the institution, reclaiming its legacy of competitive academic rigor. Additionally, he encouraged the Bureau on Public Procurement to uphold transparency and ensure value for money, highlighting the importance of financial prudence amid limited resources.
In response, Professor Konya and Barrister Oko-Jaja expressed gratitude for their appointments and pledged to fulfill their roles with commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the broader public interest.
