In a statement signed by Comr. Engr. Zubair Dada, MNSE, Secretary of the Caretaker Committee (CTC) of the Federal Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (FEDJUSUN), Comr. Umar Musa Aboki, Chairman of the CTC, expressed immense optimism about the future of Nigeria’s judiciary following the appointment of Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Aboki described Justice Kekere-Ekun’s elevation to the apex judicial position as a historic achievement for Nigeria, noting that she is only the second female Chief Justice in the country’s history.
He highlighted her track record of dedication, courage, and hard work, which have earned her respect both within and beyond the legal community.
According to Aboki, Justice Kekere-Ekun’s vast experience and sterling leadership qualities make her the ideal figure to lead the judiciary into a new era of transparency, efficiency, and justice for all.
“The appointment of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is not only a celebration of gender inclusivity but also a testament to her unparalleled contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria.
Her commitment to the rule of law and fearless pursuit of justice are attributes that will undoubtedly guide her as she takes on this critical role,” Aboki stated.
He further called on all judiciary stakeholders, from judges and lawyers to court staff, to rally behind the new Chief Justice and provide unwavering support in maintaining the sanctity, integrity, and independence of the judiciary.
Aboki emphasized that collective support is crucial in ensuring that Justice Kekere-Ekun’s tenure is marked by groundbreaking reforms and a strengthened judicial system.
Aboki underscored FEDJUSUN’s commitment to working closely with the Chief Justice to promote the welfare of judicial staff and enhance the efficiency of the courts across Nigeria.
