Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his thoughts on the recently concluded local government election in Rivers State.

The election, held amidst ongoing political tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike, resulted in a dominant victory for the Action Peoples Party (APP), which secured 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions.

The Action Alliance (AA) claimed one seat, while in the councillorship races, the APP won 314 seats, and other parties like the APC, Labour Party, and SDP each secured a single seat.

Atiku reacted on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the election marked the end of political intimidation and judicial manipulation, making way for genuine governance in Rivers State.

He praised the resilience of the citizens for peacefully ensuring a democratic process.

Atiku congratulated the newly elected leaders and urged them to prioritize the welfare of the people over personal ambition.

He also commended Governor Fubara for safeguarding the integrity of the elections despite challenges.
