The Action People's Party (APP) has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the people of Rivers State for their overwhelming support in the recently concluded local government chairmanship elections. The APP won 22 out of 23 local government chairmanship positions in a landslide victory on Saturday.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli, Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), made the announcement in Port Harcourt, leading to widespread celebrations across the state. Supporters of the APP and opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) took to the streets to rejoice.

Several locals voiced their relief and optimism, hoping this victory would mark the end of political oppression in the state. The PDP had boycotted the elections following internal strife between Governor Siminalayi Fubara's camp and that of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

In response, APP National Chairman Barr. Uchenna Nnadi expressed gratitude to the people for their trust, despite attempts by certain political actors to derail the elections through court injunctions. Nnadi assured the public that the APP is committed to ending political victimization and bringing transformative change to the state's local governments. He promised that the newly elected chairmen would prioritize the well-being of the people and deliver positive development.

"Rivers people have spoken, and this victory will bring an end to political oppression," Nnadi declared.
