The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a landslide victory in the Local Government elections held Saturday, 5th October, 2024 in Benue State.
Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) announced that the APC candidates won all 23 Local Government Area Chairmanship positions and secured all the 276 councilorship seats in the state.
BSIEC Chairman, Barrister Richard Tombowua, revealed that the electoral process was peaceful and transparent, with no reports of violence or electoral malpractice.
According to him, although about eight political parties had expressed intention to feature in the exercise, only Five political parties, the APC, APM, PDP, SDP, and Labour party eventually participated in the exercise, but it was the APC that emerged victorious in all levels of government.
The BSIEC Chairman commended political parties for their commitment to a peaceful election, which he said did not record any case of ballot papers snatching, rigging and no record of electoral violence across the Local Government Areas in the state.
The Benue State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Benjamin Omale commended Governor Hyacinth Alia and the BSIEC for their commitment towards the election.
He expressed satisfaction with the exercise saying that it was a good thing his party won all the 23 LG Chairmanship seats and the councilorship positions in the State.
APC factional group in Benue State, led by its Chairman Comrade Austin Agada, congratulated the party candidates on their success and thanked the people of Benue for their support.
The party expressed its commitment to delivering good governance and development at the grassroots level in the state.
Moving forward, the APC in Benue State said it will continue to advocate for democracy and ensure that the voices of the people are heard at all levels of government.

A statement issued by Daniel Morgan Ihomun, the State Publicity Secretary of the Austin AGADA faction of the party, stated that the APC's sweeping victory in the Local Government elections signifies a strong mandate from the people of Benue State and sets the stage for positive change and progress in the state.
