Nigerian Correctional Service Debunks Misleading Video of Senior Officer, Clarifies Suspension Status

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has said that the trending video of one  of its senior officer purporting that the service has not served him a letter of suspension as earlier  directed by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service  Board (CDCFIB) as misleading

In a Press statement signed by the head of Media and Public Relation Unit of the Service Alhaji Umar Danlami Abubakar ACC made available to Rimawaglobalnews.com in Minna Monday  stated that the service view this as an act of gross misconduct aimed at misleading the Public on the real issue at hand


The statement which read in part:, stated that " The attention of the of the Nigerian  Correctional Service (NCS), has been drawn to a trending  video of one of its senior officers purporting that the service has not served him a letter of suspension as earlier directed by the the Civil Defence, Correctional Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB) The service view this as an act of  gross misconduct aimed at misleading the Public on the issue at hand".

According to the Statement, " for the avoidance of doubt,the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), the suspended not only the senior officer as been trending in the purported video but three (3), other officers following their alleged roles in various misconduct so as to allow for Investigation"

The statement  explained that the suspended  officers include, officer- in-charge of the Maximum Security Custodial center,Kirikiri,Lagos, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) Sikiru Adekunle, Officer-in-charge of the Medium Security Custodial center Kirikiri Lagos, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC)  Micheal Anugwa,, the Officer-in-charge of the Medium Security Custodial center, Kuje, FCT Command DCC Kevin Ikechukwu, Iioafonsi, and Assistant Superintendent of Corrections (ASC11), Ogbule Samuel Obina of the Medium Security Custodial center, Abakiliki Ebonyi State


"It could be recalled that two (2) letters were issued by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services board (CDCFIB) with reference nos: CDCFIB/NCOS/DISP/016/VOL.II/16 and CDCFIB/NCOS/DISP/016/VOL.II/17 both dated 26th September, 2024, suspending the aforementioned officers.

 The suspension which took effect from the 26th of September, 2024, was conveyed to the various officers accordingly. 
The public is advised to remain resolute as the Service would ensure that thorough investigation would be carried out and any person or group of persons found culpable would be punished in line with the Public Service Rules as well as other extant laws".
