The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Silas Agara, has revealed that the organization is adopting strategic measures to combat unemployment in Nigeria, aiming to strengthen resilience and ensure a sustainable economy in alignment with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's policy thrust.
Agara made this statement while receiving various groups that paid him a solidarity visit at his residence in Akwanga on Saturday, following his recent appointment by President Tinubu.
Among the visitors were members of the Ekye Peace and Unity Forum from Doma Local Government, a delegation from the family of the late Zakari Idde, the #Webelieve Project 2019 team, and the Foundation for Justice Development and Peace (FJDP).
During the meeting, Agara expressed his commitment to partnering with organizations that have blueprints aligned with the NDE's mandate.
He clarified that the NDE's role is not merely to provide employment but to create opportunities by equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills, transforming them from job seekers into job creators.
He further disclosed that the Directorate will soon conduct a feasibility study across local government areas nationwide to tailor programs to the specific needs of each region, with initiatives expected to commence before the year's end.
Leaders of the visiting groups, including God'spower Ede of the Ekye Peace and Unity Forum, praised Agara's exceptional leadership and urged him to seize this opportunity to uplift unemployed youths in Nasarawa State and beyond.
