In a shocking turn of events, Aribibia Fubara, a director at the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, was kidnapped on Monday during a brazen attack in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
The incident occurred when a group of suspected militants, reportedly arriving via speedboat from the Okirika Waterfront, stormed the Marine Base area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the six heavily armed assailants fired multiple rounds into the air, creating panic and confusion among residents and bystanders.
The gunmen swiftly identified and seized Fubara before escaping with him in their speedboat.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the command is fully aware of the situation and that an investigation has been launched to ensure the safe return of Fubara and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, and the police have urged the public to remain calm as they work to resolve the situation.
