In a bid to enhance the post-primary education sector, the Oyo State Government has approved the recruitment of 7,500 teachers and 3,000 non-teaching staff. The announcement was made by Pastor Akinade Alamu, Chairman of the Oyo State Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), on Friday in Ibadan.
This recruitment drive follows a similar initiative in 2021, where the government employed about 5,000 teachers, earning praise from stakeholders, including the World Bank Global Partnership on Education.
Pastor Alamu emphasized that the current administration prioritizes education and job opportunities. Interested candidates can apply through the TESCOM job portal at tescom.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng for two weeks. Applicants must have a National Identification Number, a functioning email, and phone numbers, among other requirements.
The recruitment will be merit-based to ensure a high standard of education. The process includes online applications, a computer-based test (CBT), and an oral interview. Pastor Alamu warned against applying for both teaching and non-teaching categories simultaneously, as each applicant is only entitled to one category.
The exercise will be supervised by an inter-ministerial committee to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible process, free of charge. Governor Seyi Makinde was commended for his support and approval of this significant recruitment effort.
Permanent Secretary TESCOM, Mr. Haroon Lawal, noted that the recruitment aims to strengthen both teaching and non-teaching sectors of the state's secondary education system.
