The new chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Minña Branch Barrister Isyaku Barau has requested governor Umar Mohammed Bago of Niger State,to involve professional bodies like the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in his Urban renewal thrive.
He noted that the involvement of the two Professional bodies will build confidence on the citizens of the state and the generality of the people of Niger State.
According to the legal practitioner, the two Professional bodies as critical stakeholders in the state Will assist his transformational agenda to checkmate as well as hold those saddled with the Public funds hold accountable to his administration.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after his election which took place at the Niger State High court complexe in Minna at the weekend, Barrister Isyaku Barau stated that Journalists as the watchdog of the society and legal practitioners as the gatekeepers of the law will play a vital roles in his Urban transformational agenda.
" Involving the Press and the Bars in his Urban renewal thrive and his new Niger transformational agenda will go along way in making those saddled with the Public funds to be accountable to the people of the state" he noted.
He said, his leadership as the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Minna branch will ensure that rule of law and Humanright is given the deserving place under his tenure stressing the needs for the independence of the Judiciary prevail.
He noted that the independent of the Judiciary will enhance the speedy and quick dispensation and administration of Justice in the country calling on the Federal Government to as a matter of the law to allow the Judiciary its own independent so as it will operate within the ambit of the Constitution.
" One more important thing that is lingering in the society is the issue of the independence of the Judiciary.
" As the NBA chairman of Minna branch, the independence of Judiciary will take the front burner of my administration . If judiciary as the third arm of government is fully independence the common man will get accesbto Justice.
" Because judiciary is the last hope of the common man. My administration as NBA will be committed to ensure the independence of the Judiciary for a common man to get access to justice" he stated.
Speaking further, the NBA chairman commended the immediate past leadership of the Association for their achievement during their tenure assuring that he will consolidate on their performance and build on the success recorded during their tenure.
He said he will involve all critical stakeholders in the justice system in the state to the protection of the right of the citizens where every citizens regardless his status in the society get acces to Justice and justice to be given to all manners of people in the state.
While calling on members of the Bar in the branch to extend their hands of fellowship to his administration to pilot the leadership of the association in the next two years, Barrister Isyaku Barau assured that his administration will not Compromise the Welfares of the members.
