The Proprietor and founder of Mallam Kawu Youths Rehabilitation and Orphanage Center ( MKYROC), Bauchi has been assured of total involvement into all activities of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners.
The National President of the association, Dr. (Alh.) Shaba Maikudi gave the assurance in Bauchi during the course of his visit to the centre, noting that the orphans are very sound and we’ll packaged.
Alhaji Shaba who was conducted round the various units of the rehabilitation centre said that according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 85 to 95 percent of the world population defends natural medicine.
Maikudi observed that the centre is more of correctional than rehabilitation, and further assured that the association will partner with all relevant agencies both within and outside the country in ensuring that the aims and objectives of the centre are achieved
“I’m really impressed with what I have seen in this centre, and I want to assure you that we would articulate into most of our projects”, Maikudi said.
He also directed that all the workable plans of the orphanage and rehabilitation centre be forwarded to the national secretariat of the association in order to convince the government and foreign missions on how to assist the centre.
Earlier in his welcome address, the proprietor of Malam Kawu Youths Rehabilitation and Orphanage Centre, Mallam Abdullah Tahir expressed delight with the visit of the association’s president which he described as a mark of honour to the centre.
Mallam Tahir expressed gratitude to the Bauchi state government, especially it’s media organizations, as well as other national and private media outfits for their continued free services, assistance, support and cooperation in carrying out activities of the centre.
Tahir unfolded expansion plan of the centre to the association president following the purchased of a nearby widow’s house which building materials are being sought to erect accommodation structures.
In an interview shortly after the visit, Malam Abdullahi Tahir said that the center has rehabilitated over 1,000 orphans and vulnerable children.
Malam Abdullahi Tahir, told reporters that the rehabilitation of orphans and vulnerable children started in the past seven years.
He said sizeable number of kids were enrolled into primary, secondary and tertiary schools, adding that some of them had already graduated with good grades.
He said the majority of the beneficiaries were vulnerable children that included orphans and drug addicts. He added that the addicts were voluntarily brought to the centre by their parents.
According to him, the centre trained some of the beneficiaries in skills which included tailoring, barbing, embroidery among others.
The center as part of the drive to sanitise the society of youths restiveness, drugs addiction or other social vices that portend danger to communities.
He expressed dismay that a significant percentage of the youths are more than ever before engaged in the use of illicit drugs.
Kawu pointed out that unless the government, parents, religious and community leaders, stakeholders and philanthropists intervene, the future would be bleak for the youths who were adjudged as leaders of tomorrow.
Tahir, whose speech primarily centred on his intervention in promoting the course of education, especially school uniforms and other learning materials to the less-privilege pupils of Zannuwa, Dawaki and Shekal primary schools and Model School Kofar Ran, all in Dawaki Ward of Bauchi metropolis over 800 students benefited with school uniforms and learning materials.
MKYROC, Bauchi distributed over 700 new sallah clothes to orphaned and vulnerable children, for them to celebrate Sallah, this initiative demonstrates the commitment to serving our community and support those in need. Tahir said
He called for more assistance, support and cooperation from government and non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, national and international donor agencies to make the centre more reputable internationally.
