Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has expressed his gratitude to the organizers of a comedy show held in his honor to mark his first anniversary in office during his second term and fifth year as Executive Governor. The event took place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
Titled "Nite of Laughter and Leadership with Governor Abdullahi A. Sule (A Comedy Tribute to Your Excellency)," the program was organized by Cheetah Generation, a youth-led organization focused on innovation and resilience, headed by Mr. Eche Amos, in collaboration with Mam's Events, led by CEO Mrs. Martha Jambo Maiwada.
Speaking at the event held at Nasarawa Luxury Hotel and Suites, Governor Sule said, "A lot has been said about me and this administration, but I want to first show great appreciation to the organizers of this event for this wonderful initiative. I had different plans for celebrating my 5th anniversary as Governor, but this evening has been a delightful surprise."
Governor Sule detailed his initial plans for the day, which included visiting correctional centers and spending time with the disabled and almajiris. However, an extended State Executive Council meeting and subsequent visits from guests altered his plans. He praised his wife for fulfilling their shared intentions on his behalf.
Reflecting on his administration, the Governor noted, "We may have had a turbulent year in this second tenure, but by the grace of God, all the challenges are over.
Our direction is clear, and what we will achieve in the remaining three years will surpass the past five years.
I want to be remembered for leaving a lasting legacy for the people of Nasarawa State."
Governor Sule requested a repeat of the event, emphasizing its significance in celebrating the collective spirit and resilience of the state.
He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of his Cabinet Members, the State House of Assembly, the Judiciary, Traditional Rulers, Religious and Youth Leaders, Security Agencies, and other stakeholders.
The event featured glowing tributes from dignitaries, including HRH Justice Sidi Bage (retired), Emir of Lafia and Chairman of the Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs, and Yakubu Lamai, Director General of Strategic Communication and Events Management for the Governor.
They praised Governor Sule's leadership and contributions to the state.
In his opening address, Mr. Eche Amos, President of Cheetah Generation, highlighted the event's purpose of celebrating Governor Sule's achievements through comedy, storytelling, and entertainment. Performances by comedians such as MC Dan Angas, Holy Moses, MC Kure, MC Nappy, MC Theo, Vorgan Elayo, and the Nasarawa State Cultural Troupe kept the audience entertained for over two hours.
The event was attended by key government officials, traditional rulers, politicians, industry leaders, security agency heads, youth leaders, journalists, and other notable guests. The evening concluded with a toast and presentation of gifts to the Governor by the organizers.
Governor Sule's remarks and the overall success of the event underscored the importance of recognizing and celebrating leadership achievements through innovative and engaging means.
