The Rivers Ijaw Peoples Forum (RIPF), a socio-political group comprising Chiefs, Elders, Men, Women, and Youths from the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Rivers State, has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara. Representing the twelve Ijaw-speaking Local Government Areas of Rivers State, the forum has been a pivotal political force in the region.
In a recent press release, the RIPF highlighted its historical support for key political figures in the state, including their significant contributions to the election victories of Governor Nyesom Wike in 2015 and 2019, and their support for Governor Fubara in the 2023 elections.
The forum addressed concerns over clandestine meetings allegedly aimed at undermining Ijaw leaders and the governor. They denounced any unauthorized actions against Governor Fubara and prominent Ijaw leaders such as Chief Pa E. K. Clarke and former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. The forum emphasized that such acts do not represent the views of the Ijaw community.
Furthermore, the RIPF congratulated Governor Fubara for his achievements in office over the past year, commending his leadership in maintaining peace and progress in Rivers State. They expressed gratitude to the indigenous and non-indigenous communities for their continued support and prayers for the governor.
The forum also extended its thanks to national leaders, particularly Chief Pa E. K. Clarke and Sir (Dr.) Peter Odili, for their unwavering support. Acknowledging the crucial roles played by Rivers women and youths, the RIPF reiterated its total support for Governor Fubara and called for continued prayers and backing from all residents of Rivers State.
