The Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Honorable Francis Orogu, has criticized the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration for failing the nation.
He made this assertion shortly after a party meeting held at the State Secretariat in Lafia .
According to Orogu, the meeting was a routine executive session aimed at updating and revalidating party membership, especially for those who felt aggrieved and left or joined the party.
He noted various categories of defections, including individuals who align with the party's policies.
During the meeting, the executive committee also filled the vacant position of the late Usman Bagudu as Chairman of the Elders Forum, with Elder Nasidi emerging as the Caretaker Committee Chairman. Orogu emphasized that Nasidi's endorsement and the positive reaction from party stalwarts and members indicated unity within the party.
Orogu called on the State Governor to apologize to the people of Nasarawa State over claims that he paid over N50 billion in debt, describing it as a fallacy intended to divert public attention and gain sympathy.
He pointed out inconsistencies, noting that Governor Sule initially claimed he did not inherit any debt, while former Governor Umar Tanko Al-Makura stated he left no debt in the state.
Criticizing the construction of a flyover and underpass by Governor Abdullahi Sule, Orogu argued that these projects were a misallocation of resources.
He urged the Governor to prioritize addressing the gully erosion affecting parts of Lafia, the state capital, and focus on more viable infrastructure projects.
Orogu accused the APC of using the flyover and underpass projects as a means to defraud citizens.
He highlighted that the Governor had only constructed less than three kilometers of township road in Lafia over the past five years, adding that many roads were built to benefit party supporters and were often less than a kilometer in length.
He expressed sympathy for local government workers and retirees, stating they have been living hand-to-mouth for years due to the administration's shortcomings.
Orogu concluded by stressing the need for the state to undertake more substantial and beneficial projects.
