Member representing Keana Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, has expressed his readiness to effectively collaborate with the Nasarawa State Network on Environment and Climate Justice (NASNECJ) to address environmental and climate challenges in his constituency and the state at large.
Hon. Omadefu, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Environment and Housing, gave this assurance while hosting NASNECJ in his office today. He emphasized the importance of strong partnerships in tackling these critical issues.
"I appreciate your visit and assure you of my readiness to partner with you to tackle environmental and climate challenges, considering their impact on societal development," Omadefu stated.
He highlighted his recent motion under matters of public importance concerning the rainstorm that wreaked havoc in his constituency and his support for the victims affected by the disaster.
The lawmaker stressed the need for collective efforts to address environmental challenges effectively.
Earlier, Mr. Evoh Emmanuel Okolo, Nasarawa State Coordinator of NASNECJ, stated that the visit aimed to seek the lawmaker's support and partnership on environmental and climate justice.
"Our activity focuses on strengthening partnerships and collaboration through advocacy visits to MDAs, individuals, and groups. Legislative advocacy towards progressive environmental legislation aligned with principles of sustainability and climate justice is significant," Okolo said.
The NASNECJ State Coordinator expressed confidence that a strong partnership between legislators, civil society, and other stakeholders is essential for tackling the complex environmental and climate challenges facing Nasarawa State, leading to a more sustainable and equitable future for all citizens.
