President Bola Tinubu has appointed a new board for the Securities a Exchange Commission (SEC) to further strengthen the regulatory body's mandate in overseeing Nigeria's capital market.
The newly appointed board members are as follows:
1. Mr. Mairiga Aliyu Katuka - Chairman
2. Mr. Emomotimi Agama - Director-General
3. Frana Chukwuogor - Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement)
4. Mr. Bola Ajomale - Executive Commissioner (Operations)
5. Mrs. Samiya Hassan Usman - Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services)
6. Mr. Lekan Belo - Non-Executive Commissioner
7. Mr. Kasimu Garba Kurfi - Non-Executive Commissioner
President Tinubu expressed confidence in the capabilities of the appointed professionals, expecting them to leverage their vast experience and competence to advance the SEC's core mandate. The aim is to foster a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient, thereby bolstering investor confidence and significantly contributing to Nigeria's economic growth.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, announced the appointments on April 19, 2024.
