Stakeholders of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) across the 19 Northern States have given Governor Abba Yusuf Abba of Kano State a 48-hour ultimatum to resign.
This decision comes as a vote of no confidence was passed on Governor Yusuf due to perceived failures in governance.
The Concerned NNPP Stakeholders expressed disappointment in the party's leadership, particularly in Kano State, stating that it has been "worse than the government at the centre and the previous administration.
The stakeholders issued a communique on Monday, signed by key party figures, including President Hon. Attahiru Musa and Secretary Hon. Simon Pam.
According to the stakeholders, Governor Yusuf's leadership has not lived up to the expectations set when the party came into power. They criticized the lack of clear ideology and developmental plans for the masses, accusing the governor of focusing on personal vendettas rather than governance.
The communique highlighted concerns about the state's failure to utilize increased statutory allocations effectively since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023. It also accused Governor Yusuf of using propaganda to divert attention from his perceived inefficiencies.
In conclusion, the stakeholders declared that Governor Yusuf's inability to perform has exposed the party to public ridicule.
They demand that he either "sit up or resign with immediate effect," warning that his actions could jeopardize the party's future in upcoming elections.
