Nasarawa State Police Ban Ethnic Vigilante Groups and Similar Organizations

 The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shehu Umar Nadada, has announced the ban of Ethnic vigilante groups and similar organizations within the state.

 This decision comes in line with the Executive Order No.1 of 2024, which proscribes such groups from operating.

Specifically mentioned in the announcement are the Kungiyar Zaman Lafia Nomad vigilante, Bassa vigilante, and Eggon vigilante groups.

 The ban extends to any association, movement, or group aiming to provide security for a particular ethnic group within Nasarawa State through force or arms.

A press statement signed by Command PPRO, DSP RAMHAN NANSEL, Anipr, directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police officers, and Heads of Department/Tactical teams in the Command have been directed to enforce the ban rigorously. Members of the banned groups are urged to surrender all uniforms and related equipment to the nearest Area Commanders or Divisional Police officers within two weeks from the announcement date.

The Commissioner of Police warns that anyone caught operating or possessing prohibited firearms will face arrest and the full force of the law.
