.......... Namu pillars emerges winner of Esson Mairiga's trophy after 3-1 scores.
Member representing Lafia North Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Judiciary, Barr. Esson Mairiga, has urged the youths and other Nigerians to embrace sporting activities considering its importance to human and societal development.
Barr. Esson was speaking during Peace and Unity Five Aside Football Tournament he organized in his constituency.
The game which ended with Namu Pillars winning 3-1 against Assakio Selected was part of the Lawmaker's effort to engage the youths, promote peace and unity.
The football tournament future twelve participating clubs from Assakio Ward .
The lawmaker said that the purpose of the competition was to promote peace and unity among the people of different tribes, religious and political affiliations.
" Assakio and Namu people are one, no sentiment among us. We cherished and love ourselves as brothers and indivisible entity.
"We eat, wine and stay together". He said.
Esson promised not to disappoint his constituents by providing the dividends of democracy to the people.
"Within the short time of my stay in office, I was able to dig 15 boreholes, 5 solid bridges, provided employment opportunities that cut across all the tribes".
" In no distance time, I am going to present my score card " He stated.
Presenting the Trophy to the winning team, Hon. Esson congratulated all the participating clubs saying that in the competition there is no winner and as well there is no looser.
Also speaking, the representative of Osakio of Assakio, Angulu Ode, who is the Sarkin Fada of Osakio palace appreciated Hon Esson for the foresight.
He said that the event has definitely achieved its purpose because all the communities in Assakio Ward participated in the tournament which symbolised unity of purpose.
The monarch said Assakio people love peace and will continue to support the member to ensure that there is lasting peace not only in Assakio Ward but the entire Lafia North Constituency.
He scored high the performance of the Lawmaker so far in office saying within the shortest possible time he has demonstrated that he is a true representative of the people.
He later presented a gift contained in an envelope from Osakio as part of his contribution to the member for organizing the competition.
On his part, the Sarkin Matasan Namu, Waziri Shishi appreciated the lawmaker for organizing the competition and called on the people to continue to embrace peace.
" Assakio and Namu have no history of conflict as such we will continue to love each other and stay in peace and unity," he said.
It would be reported that the first position goes home with trophy and fifty thousand Naira while second position goes with forty thousand Naira respectively.
Also, each participating club goes with twenty thousand Naira, aside best player, highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, best coach that went with five thousand Naira each.
The event which took place at RCM primary school Assakio witnessed the presence of representative of the Osakio of Assakio, who led other traditional title holders to the venue, politicians, women, youths and elders of different ethnic groups.
Earlier, Hon. Esson attended a send forth prayer of Princess Iyono Ishaleku Akushanye in Assakio whose marriage is slated for Saturday 13 April, 2024 with Prince Abisabo Alekufo.
He congratulated her, wish her well and enjoined the couple to live peacefully in love and harmony, if finally wedded.
