In a recent announcement, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has approved the appointment of Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman as the new Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi. This decision follows extensive consultations and review of the Governing Council's report.
The appointment of Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, who specializes in Islamic Studies with a focus on women's rights, marks a historic moment as she becomes the first female indigenous Vice-Chancellor of the institution. Her tenure is set to commence on Monday, 15th April 2024.
Profile of Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman
Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman is a distinguished academician and a Professor of Islamic Studies at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Islamic Studies from the University of Jos in 1998 and was appointed a full Professor at Nasarawa State University in 2017.
Throughout her career, Professor Liman has held various academic and administrative positions within the university, including Assistant Dean of Students Affairs and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic. She has also served as the Director of Research and Publications.
In addition to her roles at the university, Professor Sa'adatu is the President of the Nigeria Association of Female Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS) and holds memberships in several other learned societies both nationally and internationally.
Her contributions to education and research have been recognized with numerous awards and fellowships, including the UFUK Dialogue Peace Ambassador award and the UNESCO/Suzanne Mubarak Japan/Egypt Friendship Research Fellowship Award.
Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman is not only a dedicated scholar but also a proud mother and grandmother.
