Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has reiterated the commitment of his administration to protect the integrity and image of the traditional institution in the state.
Muhammad stated this while receiving the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu and other traditional tittle holders of the Emirate on the traditional Sallah homage at Government House Bauchi, on Thursday. The governor assured of his administration’s determination to continue to uphold, protect and respect the dignity of the traditional institution in recognition of its rich cultural heritage.
The Governor also assured that the traditional institutions in the state will continue to be respected and treated with utmost dignity.
He acknowledging the role of traditional institutions and community leaders in maintenance of peace across the state maintaining that such efforts should not go unnoticed by the government.
He expressed satisfaction with this year’s colourful Durbar procession and urged them to maintain the age long tradition which was the 101 edition.
Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammà d used the forum to declared that the State under his leadership will continue to support and collaborate with the Federal Government in improving the standard of living of the residents.
Muhammad added that there is no need to allow political parties difference be a barrier stressing that the essence of politics is working for the people.
According to him, “We in Bauchi state are very lucky with the APC led Federal Government, we have two key Ministers in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare as well as Foreign Affairs occupied by two personalities from the State, my younger brothers, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate and Amb Yusuf Maitama Tuggar. They are all doing well.”
He added that,”Though we belong to the different political parties, but we are working together for the good of the entire state. That is the beauty of politics and essence of democracy and democratic governance.”
Speaking further on the benefits of team work, the Governor said that,” The Minister of Health has told me that the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) will be completely renovated and there will be a permanent site, there will be a new Teaching Hospital in Azare while there will be a Federal Medical Centre in Misau.”
On his part, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu who noted that they were at Government to exercise the annual tradition, expressed delight for the successful completion of Ramadan Fasting.
He also commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad for upgrading the palaces of all the Emirs and District Heads across the state adding that the move would enhance their operations.

He also commended the Governor’s purpose-driven leadership and applauded the notable sacrifices and bold decisions taken under his leadership particularly in the area of building up respect of the traditional institutions.
The Emir however urged government to make fertilizer and other things needed for farming readily available for the farmers before the setting in of the 2024 farming season as the rain is set to start falling soon based on forecast.
This year’s Sallah Durbar procession was held at the newly constructed arena which the Governor named Dr Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu Square, Government House Bauchi out of respect for the Emir and his leadership qualities.
Dignitaries at the occasion included the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate who attended the Durbar for the first time.
