Otukpo Local Government Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Alfred Omaku Oketa, and his cabinet paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo. The visit aimed at fostering ties between the council and the university.
During the meeting, Chairman Oketa praised the university's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Innocent Ujah, for his leadership and acknowledged the role of former Senate President David Alechenu Mark in establishing the institution. He also expressed regret over recent protests by some youths, disavowing their actions and assuring the university of community support.
Chairman Oketa urged for greater inclusion of the host community in employment opportunities and pledged to enhance security cooperation to maintain peace within the university community. In response, the VC thanked the chairman for the visit, citing it as motivation to further improve the university's services.
The meeting, held on March 7, 2024, at the council chamber, saw the participation of university management staff.
