The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, says it would pass into law a Bill for a Law to Amend College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia Nasarawa State 2020 and other Matters Connected Thereof on March 6th, 2024. 

The House also received report of House Committee on Education on a Bill for a Law to Establish the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute Lafia. 

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced this after the House deliberated on the committee report during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker while slating  6th March, 2024 for the passage of the bill into law, said that the bill if passed would change the nomenclature of the headship of the institution from Provost to Rector and Deputy Provost to Deputy Rector.

" I will slate next tommorow, Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 for the passage of the bill into law.

Earlier, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the adoption of the committee report which was seconded by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House.

The House unanimously adopted the report.

In a related development, the House received the report of House Standing Committee on Education, Science and Technology on a Bill for a Law to Establish the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute Lafia and for Other Matters Connected Therewith, presented by Rt. Hon Abel Yakubu Yakubu, the Chairman of the committee. 

Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House after recieving the report, slated March 6th, 2024 for deliberation on the report.

The Speaker said that the bill if passed into law  would give legal backing to the institute which is saddled with the responsibility of training youths and other people  in different skills.

Earlier, Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the Committee while presenting the bill said that the bill was  to establish a vocational training institute in the state. 

" Where target youths will be trained in different skills to enable them to be self reliant, employer of labour and contribute positively to the development of the state and the society in general .

He also said that the bill if passed into law would stimulate the growth of the state economy and would boost IGR in the state.

Rt.Hon Abel appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for initiating the bill towards training the youths and other people in the state.

He also appreciated the Speaker for finding them worthy of the assignment.
